The Citizen Eco-drive system is an impressive method for converting light into electrical power to fuel your watch. What is especially impressive about Eco-drive is that the light source does not have to be sunlight - it can in fact be any light source. When in a dark place (such as in your bedside drawer) the watch will normally power down after a set period of time meaning that the analogue dial will stop or return to the 12 O'clock position to conserve energy. Take the watch back into the light and the watch will automatically spring back into life and the hands will return to the exact position they should be. The battery should last a lifetime, and our long term test watch, a Citizen Skyhawk, has been running constantly since January 2004 - over 6 years!
